Battlefield Earth Bows On Sunday
Battlefield Earth was a poor film starring John Travolta back in 2000. Its ideas were solid but the script was terrible and the film quite understandably tanked at the box office. Given John Travolta’s broad range and screen power, I was intrigued by the idea of having him lead a science fiction flick but ultimately was quite saddened by the debacle.
Since 2000, much has changed in the world of entertainment. Cable TV has risen to offer better first-run programming than many of the broadcast networks.
The Discover Channel is one of them. In fact, it has been run so well that it could afford to acquire one of the environmental websites I admire most, TreeHugger.com, and convert one of its TV channels, Discovery Home, into a purely environmental spot, now called Planet Green.
It is quite good. Catrin loves it! Now, to fire up the second half of the summer, a new program launches this Sunday, Battlefield Earth. I am dying to see it! This innovative show stars Ludacris and Tommy Lee during a 30-day touring skirmish in which they battle to see who is greener.
Novel!
I posted about it over at Keyboard Culture. Let me know what you think.
