Mamma Mia Is A Delightful, Boogielicious Romp

The casting is a bit off here and there but overall, Mamma Mia is a powerful film based on strong musical themes and belongs on everyone’s must-see list.

Not since I was in Las Vegas and saw Love at the Mirage have I been as moved as I was at the local cineplex. The teasers I had seen for the film left me underwhelmed. Nevertheless, Meryl Streep is a gigantic talent and the interview I had seen, in which she commended Pierce Brosnan for his courage in singing as the script dictated, made me curious. My curiosity was rewarded!

If you haven’t seen it, you must. However, during the opening minutes, if you find yourself questioning the decision to see the film, give it through Chiquitita before bailing. The acappella version of this classic has an intriguing twist and then the audience is bowled over by Dancing Queen, without a doubt the film’s pinnacle.

The location shots are very nice, too, I should mention.

In the end, if you enjoy musicals, Mamma Mia will not disappoint.
